Carey Drayton

Carey Drayton served as a law enforcement officer and public safety administrator for 33 years starting as a student employee at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police Department and later serving as its youngest Chief at age 26. Drayton has also served in similar roles at the Florida State University, the University of Oregon, George Washington University and the University of Southern California. The progressively larger and complex Universities created the opportunities for Mr. Drayton to demonstrate his skills and knowledge managing successfully Parking & Transit Operations, Locksmith Operations, Emergency Management, Hospital Security, Environmental Health and Safety, Retail Security at University Bookstores and Athletic Department Retail Stores, CCTV and Access Control Design and Implementation, Facility Security Design and the Accreditation process of Police and Security Departments. Throughout his thirty-three years he has successfully directed the preparation and recovery efforts of floods, Resident Hall and Fraternity House fires, hurricanes, and small earthquakes. Additionally Mr. Drayton was directly responsible for providing security for Presidential Candidates, Presidents of the US, US First Ladies, and Vice Presidents of the United States speaking or visiting campus, the Dahlia Lama, numerous controversial speakers, Heads of State and former Heads of State including several polarizing political figures. Drayton believes his greatest success at each campus has been the reduction of crime and the fear of crime and increased respect of the faculty, staff and students among the police or security staff. Additionally, several campuses have emulated his innovative use of technology to reduce crime and they achieved similar results. He has personally designed and implemented security planning for more than 90,000 person athletic events and entertainment events. These events have ranged in size from a few thousand participants to 60,000 participants.
